Mclaren Triumph Stroller - Recalled From Market Due to Finger Amputations

The Mclaren Triumph stroller enjoyed the limelight right from the time it was introduced into the market in 1999. From the word go, these strollers from the famous fashion brand were a tremendous hit amongst the parents with infants and toddlers. It had an exhaustive list of loyal clients until 2009 when the company took a big hit. Unfortunately, just a decade after the Mclaren Triumph stroller was introduced to the world, it is being recalled.

The dangerous carriage hinge of the Mclaren Triumph stroller is the reason for this recall. The news of this recall took the world by a storm. Innumerable parents from various parts of the world who had purchased the McLaren triumph stroller in place of an instep jogging stroller from another brand were shocked. However, this move was necessary considering the number of finger amputations that took place due to the disastrous design flaw of this stroller from Mclaren.

While some people appreciated the move by the company to recall the Mclaren Triumph stroller from the market considering the flaw, most others were infuriated that the decision was taken a decade later after innumerable little ones from various parts of the world ended up losing their fingers.

The hinge mechanism of the Mclaren Triumph stroller has been done without any thought process involved. It poses a potential hazard while unfolding the stroller. Each stroller that fell under this category was in the price range of 0 to 00. In the United States alone, there were close of a dozen toddlers and infants who lost their fingers after it got caught between the hinges.

The United States was the first country in which Mclaren recalled its products. Despite the flaw being present in every Mclaren Triumph stroller that was sent to various parts of the world, it was not recalled. Instead, the company sent hinge covers for the carriage hinge in order to minimize the risk. This was not well received by most of the people who lost faith they had in this large company. They switched brands and opted for safer strollers from other companies.

This move of Mclaren to recall all their strollers has a devastating impact on the company. Today, Mclaren still manufactures strollers, but after the Mclaren Triumph stroller fiasco people are thinking twice before investing the money on something that can be potentially dangerous for the child.
